The Inn at Perry Cabin
Tucked back off the main thoroughfare connecting Ocean City to the Bay bridge is St. Michaels, Maryland. I'm embarrassed to say that even though I was born and raised in Baltimore, lived in Annapolis and frequented the Eastern Shore, I had never been to St. Michaels myself.
The original building at Perry Cabin was originally built in 1816 and was has bee a home, riding academy and a farm prior to it's use as an Inn and wedding destination. It has been transformed from a small inn and restaurant to an 80 room luxury resort with a full spa, pool, lush gardens and sail boat tours on the bay.
Most notably in recent history, the Inn was featured in one of my all-time favorite movies, Wedding Crashers as Christopher Walken's character, the secretary of states mansion. The fact that Christopher Walken has graced these halls makes me giddy enough to fall in love with it already.
The rooms are all done in a classic, tasteful coastal manner with a nod to the waterfront without overdosing on nautical theme. Nightly turndown service includes fresh-baked cookies and a lovely note about your evening on the shore as well as the next days weather forecast. The room we stayed in was one of their deluxe waterview rooms that opened to a patio with a cafe table and chairs looking out over the water. There are various rooms to choose from for a room block, all beautifully appointed so none of your guests feel left out.
The only dining options at the inn are room service and the restaurant Stars. The restaurant is in a beautiful light-filled room looking out over the marina that accent their breakfast, lunch and dinner options nicely. Keep in mind, they stop serving breakfast at 11am and don't serve lunch until 11:30 so get your reservations booked beforehand.
There are countless things to do at the inn including sailboat or motorboat tours, self-service kayaking, enjoying a massage or facial at the Linden Spa, walking around the beautiful lush gardens, playing bocce ball or croquet or relaxing by the pool. If you're staying over a week and desire more, the hotel provides beach cruisers for you to bike to downtown St. Michaels that's less than a mile away. The longest part of the trip is down their gorgeous tree-lined stone drive.
Even if you never leave the resort grounds, the lush gardens and beautiful fields of wildflowers are enough to captivate you. I couldn't decide if I'd rather do work sitting by the water or the flowers, both are equally as peaceful and gorgeous.
St. Michaels is a cute little town with restaurants, a brewery, wine tasting room, distillery and plenty of little home and clothing shops. The inn is dog friendly and St. Michaels has at least 2 pet boutiques to get your fur babies some swag or snacks.
Weddings at the Inn start around $200 per person and can accommodate weddings from 20-200. To book your room or inquire about a wedding you can go to their website or call 410.745.2200 for more information
