High Summer Floral Workshop-Beaumont House Design
If you've known me for any length of time you'll know that Julie Abrera with Beaumont House Design is my favorite floral designer. Of course, if you've known Julie for any amount of time, she would be YOUR favorite floral designer as well.
Her art-form is wild, wondrous, foraged and bespoke. Every branch and leaf has meaning and purpose. There isn't a single precious detail that goes into Julies work that is cobbled together haphazardly. She is truly a meticulous artist and lover of all things green. Every time I work with her on a wedding or shoot I urge clients to give her full creative control to work her magic because rest assured she will create something mind-blowingly magnificent.
A beautiful day back in August, Julie took a bunch of us for a gorgeous high summer floral workshop and luncheon at the beautiful bucolic, sprawling Audley Farm in Berryville, Virginia. It was the perfect backdrop for a gorgeous day of beauty that was unparalleled and in my personal case, much needed after an exhausting wedding weekend!
Julie took all of us who were inexperienced in the floral world and gave us the tools and guidance to create beautiful centerpieces that were worthy of a stunning setting such as Audley and perfect to dress up our homes and offices with the most wondrous, fragrant blooms. Krysta Norman (one of my other all time favorite people) of Norman Photo & Paper documented the day in her classic, brilliant style.
So put on some Hazel English, sit back, take a deep breath and feel that beautiful summer breeze on the back porch blowing the scent of fresh basil and hot coffee and take in the gorgeousness of the day.
After we were done with our magical creations, we had a gorgeous lunch in the main hall at Audley farm and used our centerpieces as a long, trailing centerpiece for mingling, laughing and enjoying the open air with a great group of talented ladies.
One of my favorite things about this workshop was seeing how we all had the exact same tools, same flowers, vessels and greenery yet we all came up with arrangements that were all so different! It was a perfect demonstration in each individual persons creativity and personal expression. It also told me a lot about myself and how a creative task is an excellent way to figure out a little bit about who you are and what your style is. Here are some of my favorite arrangements from the day and some of my favorite people that attended with their beautiful creations!
If you're swooning hard over the beauty of this workshop and want Julie to take your lack of skills in creating and help you make something worthy of showing off, you can check out her other upcoming workshops here! I'm especially excited for the cocktails and holiday wreath workshop on November 30th at Catoctin Creek that I'll be attending along with some fantastic people that you just have to meet! You can also see the unbelievably fun flower crown workshop she hosted at Catoctin Creek here! Let me know if I'll see you on November 30th and I'll plan on giving you an extra big hug and a boomerang toast that I simply cannot resist doing when there is a drink in my hand!
